Kaleb Johnson Notches Podium Finish at Park Jefferson

Inside Line Promotions – JEFFERSON, S.D. (June 20, 2019) – Kaleb Johnson was able to fix recent mechanical issues and score a podium finish Saturday night at Park Jefferson International Speedway.

“We went to Park Jefferson primarily to try and resolve our motor problems and get everything figured out for the next couple of weekends,” he said. “We were able to accomplish that and come away with a decent finish so it was a good night.”

The evening didn’t begin as Johnson hoped as the engine problem that had forced him from the last two 305 features was still present.

“The motor still didn’t run completely right in the heat race,” he said. “We just mainly held our starting position and finished sixth.”

Johnson lined up on the outside of the third row for the feature.

“I was able to pass a couple of cars at the start and ran in fourth for a while,” he said. “There weren’t any cautions and the track got pretty slick.

“I passed the guy who eventually finished second, but he got back around me near the halfway mark. I was able to slip under another guy on the bottom late in the race and finished third. With no cautions and a smaller field of cars it’s more difficult to move forward. But we finished a race and got the problem with our engine figured out so it was a good night.”

Johnson also received good news regarding his 360 sprint car program, which had been without a power plant since losing the engine a couple of weeks ago.

“Thanks to a couple of generous people we were able to secure a 360 engine for the remainder of the year,” he said. “We’re really excited and extremely grateful for their help.

“Our plans for this weekend will be to race both classes at Jackson Motorplex on Friday and then with the Midwest Power Series at Ogilvie Raceway on Saturday.”
